What does alcohol abuse do to a teenager's brain?

What does alcohol abuse do to a teenager's brain?

Teen drug and alcohol abuse can be especially unhealthy. During your teen years, your brain is still developing, which means you are extra vulnerable to the damage that drugs and alcohol can cause. The symptoms of drug and alcohol abuse are the direct result of the damage that drinking can cause. Alcohol affects many areas of the brain, which is why drinking can make you experience slurred speech, poor judgement, confusion, slow reaction times, burry vision, and poor body coordination. Again, keep in mind that your teenage brain is still developing, which means that the damage that these effects can cause will be even worse. Alcohol can damage areas of the brain related to learning and memory, and these effects can be particularly bad for teens. Drinking during your younger years can cause you to have problems with creating memories or recalling information for the rest of your life. Drinking can also damage areas of the brain related to planning, judgement, making decisions, controlling your impulses, and language. These brain areas have been found to actually be smaller in teens who drink! Perhaps the scariest part of this is that we don't know how much alcohol it takes to cause these changes. Teenage drug addicts can damage their bodies in many ways, which is why it is so important to seek help. If you or someone you love needs help with a drinking or drug problem, we're here for you. Call 1-877-698-6170 to talk with a treatment support specialist about finding the best teen addiction treatment. Going Undercover As A Paedophile To Catch Child Traffickers

How To Catch A Pimp: With an estimated 100,000 children involved in prostitution in the Philippines, one Australian father has gone undercover, posing as a sex tourist to uncover a criminal underworld of pimps and victims. Subscribe to Journeyman here: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=journeymanpictures As a devout Christian with tee-total parents, getting into character as a paedophile was always going to be a stretch for Tony Kirwan. "I was extremely uncomfortable when I first started doing this", says Kirwan. Yet his distress at the world of sleaze and exploitation emboldened him to pose as its worst type of customer. After becoming aware of the scale of child trafficking in Thailand, he founded Destiny Rescue, a charity funded by donations and mostly staffed by volunteers. "I've got no specific skills in this other than I guess a heart of a dad", he says. Now he is part of a motley crew with no background in law enforcement, whose assistance to under-resourced local police is essential. "At any time we'd have a couple of dozen agents around the world in six different countries, ready to go out into the brothels... and get some people arrested and more children rescued", says Kirwan. He claims to have seen 2,500 children and young adults rescued from trafficking in the last seven years, with an 80% success rate in not returning. We watch as months of preparation come to a head, culminating in the biggest raid in Destiny Rescue's history. Can I Buy Birth Control Pills Without a Prescription #AskAMAZE

Starting in early 2024, people in the United States won’t need a prescription to buy Opill, a new daily birth control pill. Just like ibuprofen, condoms, or emergency contraception, all ages and genders will be able to buy it in stores or online without seeing a doctor first. As of September 26th, 2023, there is no information on how much Opill will cost or if it will be covered by insurance. Opill will be just one option for birth control, and people can still go to the doctor and receive a prescription for daily birth control pills, which Medicaid and private insurance plans must cover without cost-sharing. One important note on side effects! While a progestin-only birth control pill has fewer side effects, it doesn’t have zero. Just like other over-the-counter medicine, the FDA determined that an average person can read the label and understand the side effects that could occur when taking the medicine, and decide for themselves if this is the best medicine for them. For more on the FDA’s decision and listed side effects, read the FDA announcement here: https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-first-nonprescription-daily-oral-contraceptive Be sure to subscribe to our channel to receive a notification regarding our full length video on over-the counter birth control pills! #AskAMAZE ----------------- AMAZE takes the awkward out of sex ed.
